New Carbon Accounting Tools Available With Microsoft Cloud For Sustainability

Microsoft has recently announced the availability of the Microsoft Cloud for Sustainability public preview. In today's times, a massive reduction in the level of carbon emissions has become a global priority that requires urgent and focused actions, individually and collectively.

As a principal partner at the Conference of the Parties (COP 26), Microsoft has been making concrete efforts to encourage new carbon accounting standards. It is also moving forward with technology investments and innovations, including the Microsoft Cloud for Sustainability.

The Microsoft Cloud for Sustainability delivers innovative digital tools to automate carbon accounting to tackle the biggest pain points in the sustainability journey. It also eliminates a torrent of data that is usually siloed, difficult to share, and poor quality. In the quest to become carbon negative, water positive, and zero waste by 2030, Microsoft is bringing its world-class data and environmental science teams together with its product and engineering teams to build innovative and out-of-the-box digital technology not just for itself, but also for its customers.

Leveraging the breadth of the Microsoft Cloud, the Microsoft Cloud for Sustainability can be defined as a packaged Software as a Service (SaaS) solution accelerating data integration and reporting, connecting to data sources, and providing accurate carbon accounting. It also assists in enabling intelligent insights so organizations can take more effective action on sustainability while measuring performance against goals.

Data collection is automated by the Microsoft Cloud for Sustainability through connectors to eliminate manual uploads through near real-time connections to emissions sources. The Microsoft Cloud for Sustainability offers the capability to analyse, visualise and report environmental impact, resource consumption, and sustainability progress, including to regulators, the public, and other stakeholders. Furthermore, the Microsoft Cloud for Sustainability is designed to offer actionable recommendations and insights to minimize emissions and enhance business processes.
