Shopify, one of the world's most trusted eCommerce vendors, has rolled out a Global Enterprise resource planning (ERP) Program to build official integrations with partners including Microsoft, Brightpearl, Infor, and Acumatica.
Microsoft will participate through its SMB ERP offering - Dynamics 365 Business Central. Shopify said ERP vendors can now build direct integrations into the Shopify App Store. According to Shopify, the Business Central integration will be available in early 2022 while others are already available.
With the launch of the Global ERP Program, we’re demonstrating our investment in supporting our enterprise merchants," stated Shopify vice president Mark Bergen.
It is nothing new for ERP customers with retail channels to make investments in eCommerce integration. In fact, a majority of integration vendors have noteworthy records of connecting all eCommerce platform ways with ERP, including the series of Dynamics products. The new Global ERP program of Shopify will now offer certified applications that can "directly integrate" without the requirement for third parties. These integrations can be developed with support from the Partner Solutions Engineering Team of Shopify.
Microsoft general manager Mike Morton wrote that "[t]he joint effort furthers the commitment of Dynamics 365 Business Central to connect data to help businesses adapt faster, work smarter, and perform better." Morton added Microsoft still directs enterprise and corporate customers toward Dynamics 365 Commerce that provides tools for selling through both online and offline channels.
