In today's increasingly complex business environment marked by intense competition, project-centric organisations face a series of challenges to succeed and prosper such as winning new deals, simplifying time and expense processes, optimising resource utilisation, and gaining invaluable business insights.
In other words, every project-centric organisation is always on its toes to improve its bottom line by optimising its operations. This is where Microsoft Dynamics 365 Project Operations steps in.
Microsoft Dynamics 365 Project Operations connect sales, project management, resource management, and finance teams within a unified application to accelerate project delivery, win more deals, and maximise profitability.
In the first 2021 release wave 1 for Dynamics 365 Project Operations, Microsoft refined and improved features to empower project-centric organisations.
Non-stock materials for projects
The first 2021 release wave 1 for Dynamics 365 Project Operations helps account and sales managers using Project Operations deployed for lite and resource or non-stocked scenarios to offer more accurate quotes based on estimates.
These updates allow consumption tracking of these materials during the phase of project delivery so customers can be sent invoices by project accountants proactively.
It also helps:
Procurement agents to record pending vendor invoices for projects.
Project managers and team members can easily track and approve non-stocked material usage against the project.
Finance and accounting can view non-stock material costs instantly and create invoices to be sent to customers.
Task-based billing
Project and account managers in project-centric organisations often face the hurdle of accommodating the complex contracting and billing requirements of their customers. At times, a set of project tasks are not chargeable or are complimentary while some tasks may require materials billing or fixed fee or time.
Multiple billing scenarios are supported by Project Operations deployed for resource or non-stocked scenarios with the complete flexibility to define whom to bill, what to bill for, and when to bill.
Enhanced Project Operations APIs
Certain scheduling entities were prevented by project for the web capabilities in Project Operations from creating, updating, or deleting programmatic access. Microsoft has now enabled enhanced APIs that allow customers to quickly develop custom solutions.
